We call on all levels of government in Canada to take the steps we need to end the housing crisis:

• Declare a housing emergency.
  
  
• End homelessness with a tax on the mansions of the ultra-rich, empty lots, and speculation.
  
• Build permanently affordable public housing for every income level and in every neighbourhood.
  
  
• Strengthen tenant protections and close the loopholes landlords use to jack up rents, including the vacancy loophole.
  
  
• Recognize the collective bargaining rights of tenant unions.

• Commit to using public housing on public land with public developers to end the housing crisis.
