Lack of rent control is pricing people out of Vancouver.

Currently, landlords can raise rent a certain percentage per year while the same tenant is in a unit. Once the unit becomes empty again, they can raise it as much as they think the market will allow. This creates huge incentive for landlords to renovict whole buildings and/or force out long-time tenants whose rents are lower than average for the area.

Will you help us fight the housing crisis by showing Vancouver City Council your support for rent control?

The price of rent for a unit should be controlled based on the unit itself, not whether tenants are occupying it at a given time. We the undersigned are calling on BC and Vancouver City Council to implement a Vancouver Rent Control bylaw immediately.
